Cassey Ho < 'PERFECT BODY PHOTOSHOPPED THROUGH HISTORY >

Throughout history there has been nothing more subjective than what we think is beautiful and what is not; art, cinema and fashion have established patterns to follow, especially for women.
From the Renaissance and up until much later, being filled was synonymous with wealth and status; the rounded stomach, large hips and broad chest. Only the poor were thin.

In the 20s an androgynous or boyish aspect prevailed; minimal breasts and a straighter figure; unlike in the Victorian era. Women chose to hide their curves by covering their breasts with compressed fabrics to create that slim fashinable figure.

In the 50s one had to be in the shape of an hourglass. Voluptuos bodies like Marilyn Monroe's were much desired. Women bought weight gain pills to get more carnally acceptable but suffocated in girdles; Playboy magazine was created in this decade.

In the 90s top models such as Naomi, Claudia and Cindy represented an ideal of an explosive and healthy woman. Then a more controversial trend emerged, driven by models such as Kate Moss. Angular bone structure, emaciated and super thin bodies ruled the catwalks and magazines; the name given was "heroin chic".

In the mid-1990s and early 2000s, the perfect silhouette was one of Giselle Bündchen or Adriana Lima; big breasts, flat stomachs, wasp waists, tuned thighs and long legs. By 2010, breast augmentation was the most performed cosmetic surgery in the United States; the era of the Victoria's Secret angels.

The current icons of beauty are those of the Minaj's or Kardashian's and the likes; big assholes, wide hips, small waists and full lips.Plastic surgery and buttock implants are rampant thanks to Instagram ho's that publish 'belfies' (bum selfies). Cosmetic surgeons have become famous for changing shape of women. From 2012 buttock implants and labial injections increased by 60%.
